We agreed to meet at 7.45pm at the door,
but I was taking my own sweet time having coffee with Dominic at the cookie museum.
It was my bad for not checking on the clock!
Sorry!!!

I know it's not allowed to take photos inside the theatre
but it's rare that they show the setting before the musical starts.
No one stops me, so why not?

He knows I enjoys watching stage plays & musicals beside movies.
The no. of times I actually turn on the TV can be counted with 1 hand.
It was really sweet of him to attend such boring-to-some shows with me.
I do really appreciate all the effort that he puts on me.
Our next adventure together will be ballet under the stars.
Picnic anyone?

You are what you eat (part 1)

Foods that age you
Think twice before you reach for that can of fizzy drink. It is not just about your waistline. Think about the lines on your face too. That is because carbonated drinks can age you, nutritionists say.
Other well-loved foods like pastries, potato chips, sausages, coffee, red meat, white rice and bread can also cause premature ageing. The reason? Most of these foods are high in fat or sugar, which are not healthy for the body, said Ms Magdalin Cheong, chief dietitian and senior manager of Dietetic and Food Services at Changi General Hospital.
Foods that age us include:

  • Carbonated drinks
which are high in sugar and have no nutrients. They have "empty calories", said Ms Teo Kiok Seng, a nutritionist at Nutrition Network Services.
"The sugar in these drinks can lead to obesity, which increases your risk of hypertension, disbetes, heart disease and stroke," she said.
A nutritional study by the Harvard School of Public Health found that a can of carbonated drink a day can cause one to pile on 7 kg in a year.
  • Sausages
can increase the risk of colorectal cancer, a recent European study found, Ms Teo added.
The culprits are the carcinogenic N-nitroso compounds, which are formed when nitrite preservaties are added to processed meats, she said.
Ms Jaclyn Reutens, a dietitian at Aptima Nutrition & Sports Consultants, added that sausages are made with fatty meats. Chemical and additives are also added so person's liver has to do more work to detoxify them. "As we age, our organs do no work as efficiently so some people may get intro trouble," said Ms Reutens.
  • Coffee
has caffeine. What most people may not know is that caffeine makes stress hormones shoot up and stay an abnormally high level for hours after consumption. "One of the biggest contributors to premature ageing is the powerful stress hormones called cortisol," said Ms Teo. "High levels of cortisol wear down the muscles, leading to muscle wasting." Excessive caffeine is also dehydrating, said Ms Reutens.
  • Potato chips and fries
are deep fried at high temperatures, giving rise to the formation of trans-fat. Diet high in trans-fat are linked to an increased risk of ornary heart disease, said Ms Teo. "However, if palm oil is used, no trans-fat will be produced.
  • Sugary pastries
contains a lot of sugar, which can lead obesity. What is worse is that pastries are often made with hydrogenenated oils, which contain trans-fat. Hydrogenated oils are made by adding hydrogen to liquid oils to turn them into solids for easier storage. However, this chemical process produces trans-fat. An example will be margarine.
Trans-fat increases the risk of heart diseases more than saturated fat does, said Ms Teo, as it lowers good cholesterol and incrase bad cholesterol in the bloodstream.
In addition, the combination of sugar and trans-fat is bad news for our liver and pancreas, said Ms Reutens. "It's dangerous to overwork our organs as it means we are more exposed to free radicals."
Free radicals are unstable particles caused by chemical reactions in the body. Antioxidents are needed to fight them, she added. "If our intake of anti-ageing foods is insufficient to combat free radicals, we age faster and have a higher risk of diseases."
  • Red meat
has protein, which is essential for tissue repair, but too much animal protein may cause calcium loss from bones. This increases the risk of osteoporosis, said Ms Teo.
Studies have shown that a high protein intake in middle-aged adults is linked to inflammatory polyarthritis, where inflammation occurs in more than one joint.
  • White rice and white bread
have very little fibre, making them "high glycemic index' foods. "Such foods are digested and absorbed into the bloodstream very quickly, causing a sudden spike in blood sugar level," said Ms Teo. This can lead to cell changes that accelerate ageing and increase the risk of chronic diseases, she added. These include Type 2 diabetes, gall bladder and heart diseases, Alzheimer's disease and certain types of cancers.
Other high glycemic index foods include mashed potatoes, processed grains and sugary cereals.

I went to look for Andy to do my monthly hair treatment right after fitting & briefing.
He was so sweet to tell me to go to him on Sun to do a quick change of hairstyle
(provided we have the luxury of time of cos')
if I didn't like whatever was done that day itself.
Anyways,
do visit Storm @ Jurong Point before the end of April!
They are having some crazy/fantastic/amazing deals on color & treatment.
Look for Andy @ 6861 5064

Today is mad, I've been rushing here & there the whole time.

Dinner before watching "Members Only'.
There were 3 Japanese restuarants on the same row,
we took some time before deciding which one we wanna try.

Japanese food always look the same to me.
I can't tell which is good or authentic.
Personally,
it's the freshness of ingredients & overall quality that matters.
.
.
Why people always processes my order the last???
I had to gobble down my noodles cos' I'm a super slow eater
+ we have a play to catch!
I had slight discomfort cos' I ate too fast, food wasn't digested properly...
I hate you!

The French playwright was witty & really funny.
So, quickly go to sistic & grab the tickets!

Chateau Cos d'Estournel Masterclass Wine Tasting

Office
---
After Jason left, this is the only thing he left behind...
Besides his loud & rude laughers arched in our hearts of cos'.

Isn't he cute?
He almost went swimming (dropped into Miko's cup)..
Mr Ang & Mr Thong kept throwing him around the office.
So, I took the pathetic one back & placed infront of me.

According to Fiona,
I made her stress by starting to put my makeup at 12pm (the event starts at 7pm),
we are only leaving office at 4pm.
So after I'm done, everryone rushed into the WC to start dolling up.
Including Mr Ang, who joined in the fun.
Boss also tried to be part of the crowd, too!
It was just hilarious to see the scene.

Goodwood Park Hotel

My ever 1st (proper) wine tasting session!

There weren't much I can help besides decanting the wines.
I wasn't of much help, cos' I don't even have the strength to pull the corks out.
+ the thing is, I didn't manage to successfully uncork 1 bottle!
I don't know why it seemed so easy for Fabian & Aaron.
Hahaha!

Prior to the start of event...

Vintages 2002, 2004 & 2006 magnum worth 300 euros each to be given away.
Anyone wants to invite me for a drink, since I announced ya names???
Heehee...
There are also 2 boxes of crystal ware that was given away last night.
Nobody really wants to call me for a drink?
*winks

We accidentally decanted all vintage 2006 bottles, so can't display 1 at the reception.
And, I purposely placed Mr Chin's name card away from ours.
Not too sure he realised that or not.
Haha!

My fav. thing to do...
Snap shots of everything!

Ande & I wanted to take a photo tog., & only Fiona is within our sight.
So he suggested we pretend to go take with Fiona 1st,
in turn, ask her to take for us.
So cheeky!

This Mr Ang, who always screams at us!
Especially when we are eating snakes.
The truth is, he's nice lah.

Guest room

Valentine was uncomfortable to be put in a room with just guys,
So Jason got me to stay with her throughout the interview.
Good for me, cos' it means I have more photos to share...

It was nice to know about some history of the Chateau while tasting its wines.
Then again, everyone's busy chatting/ eating after the intermission.
I'll be so sian if I was Irene, cos' I doubt anyone really paid attention to her.
1 interesting I learnt is that,
pple actually uses egg shells to clean wine glasses.
How amazing!

My glasses.
I didn't finish them cos' I wanted to avoid looking red.
I can hold my alcohol but I'll look like a toasted lobster even with a mouth of beer.
Since I gotta emcee, I so realise I need to look presentable.
Right?
---
I seat with a group of really nice guests.
I'm right in between 2 gentleman & 2 lovely ladies.
Soon knows alot about wines & he kept mentioning labels which sounded foreign to me.
It's time that I buck up on my knowledge and/or French.
LOL!
I had a wonderful tallking to Kathleen & Margaret.
From wines to fashion & everything under the sun.
I was alittle nervous when I has to mingle with strangers initially,
but I really thank God for the wonderful people he placed on my table.
And of course,
Jason sitting with us helped alot.
I can't handle talking to everyone & making sure I took care of all guests.
Generally I'm glad to be there!
I met a friend, Denise, when I was in Shanghai last year.
What a small world isn't it?
